Softwares I used for astrophotography

Here a short list of the softwares I’m using for my astrophotography stuff.

Capture

I’m currently using two software in order to make my capture :

I’m a linux user but those two are very nice. I’m currently using them via a VirtualBox virtual machine (need to install the propriatary version in order to get support for USB-C).

Sharpcap is very nice for any camera. There is a free version and you can pay a fair amount per year to get some advanced features. It is very nice when I’m using it with the camera of my astronomy club. But it is faily less nice when I’m using it with my own camera : a Canon EOS 50D. The limitation with a canon camera is that the generic driver pass by some intermediate files on the disk, which use space and finish with faily slower capture (for planetary). It is OK for deep-sky, and maybe better than next one.

BackyardEOS is a good complementary when using my Canon camera because it is fully suited to it. It is also not free, but again with what I found a fair price. This one also solve to have a higher resolution real rendering for aligning the telescop and makeing the focus which is harder with a canon in Sharcap.

Post-treatement

To stack deep sky shots, i’m using the well known :

This one works on Linux.

For the planetary, moon, depending on how well I shooted I worked with a combination of :

Those three are Windows only. I expect to find solution at some point to come back to Linux for this.

Color fix

Either :

As probably many users, I’m using :
